Since their formation in 2009 The Barkers Vale Brothers have delighted audiences at festivals, in venues and on the street Australia wide with their digestible mix of dry humour and
high quality acoustic bluegrass
Gareth Bjaaland plays the five string banjo, fiddle and vocals whilst his younger brother Vaughan Davies plays guitar and also sings, they consider talking and interacting with the audience a vital part of connecting with crowds who may not necessarily always be hardcore bluegrass or acoustic music fans. In fact their dry sense of humour and penchant for a kooky gag has become a popular feature of their concerts and seen them fitting as well into cabaret and comedy as well as more traditional music venues.
Playing a mix of traditional bluegrass, gospel, and gypsy swing they aren't afraid to incorporate elements of many modern styles into their original compositions.
"The barkers Vale Brothers play their exciting brand of rootsy bluegrass with rare originality and humour. The sparkling 5- string banjo and squalling swampy harmonies leave you high on mountain music"
